Linux Quickstart Guides - NEW!

Don't have time to read through pages and pages of Linux documentation? Want to get from A to B in the quickest manner possible? Can't be bothered to RTFM? Then Linux Quickstart Guides may be for you. These guides provide step-by-step instructions for various Linux tasks, ranging from the very simple (setting the correct date/time on your system) to the somewhat complex (setting up a secure mail system).

Available Quickstart Guides

These guides were designed to be quick so you will NOT find in-depth explanations of what's happening at each step. We do however try to provide enough explanation so that you can proceed with confidence. If you're new to Linux or need a lot of hand holding, these quickstart guides may not be appropriate for you. In that case, browse through the "regular" documentation at LinuxSelfhelp to find what you need.

If you know of other quickstart guides or have your own quickstart guide that you'd like to submit to LinuxSelfhelp to help others with various Linux tasks, send it or a link to it to See the page on contributing for more information.
